Qingyuan, Guangdong, China, November 2025
The images of the Gulong Gorge that I saw on the Internet gave me an irresistible desire to discover them in real life...

The taxi ride to Qingyuan starts slowly, but as soon as you leave the city, the road rises gently. Wide and typical of Chinese roads, it runs through an increasingly wild nature. At the foot of the gorges, the site is barely revealed, majestic but still mysterious: the glass platform remains hidden.
As we go up to the platform, we come across life-size dinosaurs, frozen in frightening or amusing poses, as if prehistory were reborn before our eyes. The children are ecstatic, but even the adults can't help but smile. And behind these frozen creatures, the landscape opens intermittently to sparkling waterfalls, which escape from the vertiginous cliffs.
Then comes the glass bridge. 329 meters (360yd) above the void. With each step, the bridge shakes slightly under our feet, swaying with the wind and the passers-by. The sensation is both terrifying and exhilarating. You have to stay focused and "zen", but the reward is immediate: a breathtaking panorama stretches as far as the eye can see.
Finally, the glass platform appears, suspended 530m (580yd) above the void. Walking on its 5cm (1.97in) thick glass plates is a dizzying experience. Every step seems to defy gravity, and the heart races as you approach the edge. In front of us, the roaring waterfall falls into the void, a spectacle of almost unreal beauty.
For those who prefer caution, walking on the side beams is possible, but even so, the thrill of height remains omnipresent. It is impossible to remain indifferent to this mixture of beauty, vertigo and adrenaline.

After coming back downstairs for a small meal, I was quietly waiting for my order to be prepared. Suddenly, I hear "Hello sir".
Surprised to hear French spoken here, I turn around and see a tall black man, well dressed and wearing a gray beret. I immediately think of Omar Sy in Arsène Lupin.
He wanted to know more about the site. He was accompanied by a blonde woman who spoke only English.
After he left, I admit that I searched on the internet how Omar Sy's partner was...
